In a news release sent late last night, the gubernatorial campaign of U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp, R-Tenn., announced it had raised more than $1.2 million so far.

The release states that “late contributions are still being tallied and (Rep. Wamp’s) official campaign finance report will not be filed until closer to the July 15 filing deadline.”

Rep. Wamp said his goal was to raise $1 million by June 30.

The Wamp campaign had more than $1 million in the bank, the release states.

Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam, Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons and Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, R-Blountville, are also seeking the GOP nomination for governor.
