Ramsey campaign says $1.3 million raised

Wednesday afternoon, the campaign of Lt. Gov. Ramsey, R-Blountville, announced in a news release that they had raised about $1.3 million since early June.

Lt. Gov. Ramsey was not able to raise funds during the legislative session under state law.

Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam’s gubernatorial campaign has raised “in the neighborhood of $3.8 million,” according to spokesman Jeremy Harrell.

Mr. Harrell said that figure surpassed the campaign’s fundraising goal, but did not say how much the goal was.

Last night, Republican U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp’s campaign announced that they had raised about $1.2 million as of Tuesday, the last day of the fundraising period. Fundraising reports are due July 15.

Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons and Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, R-Blountville, are also seeking the GOP nomination for governor.

On the Democratic side, former state Rep. Kim McMillan, D-Clarksville; Nashville businessman Ward Cammack; state Sen. Roy Herron, D-Dresden, and Mike McWherter, son of former Gov. Ned McWherter, are running for governor.
