CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Two award-winning bluegrass music groups will headline this year’s White Oak Mountain Bluegrass Festival.

Cherryholmes won the 2005 International Bluegrass Music Award for entertainer of the year. Since then the family group of four adult children and their parents has received four Grammy nominations.

Their co-headliner is Grasstowne. Their debut album, “The Road Headin’ Home,” was named 2008 album of the year by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America. All members of the acoustic quintet are veteran bluegrass musicians.

Also in the lineup is Blue Moon Rising, whoser newest album, “One Lonely Shadow,” was released in fall of 2008 and rose to No. 1 in CashBox Magazine.

Among the other bands scheduled to appear are the Lone Mountain Band, Just Us Bluegrass Band and Hiwassee Ridge, festival chairwoman Jordia Waller said.

“We are looking forward to a great event with an incredible line-up of talent,” she said.

The festival began in 2000 as the first buildings were being constructed at the Tri-State Exhibition Center, said Melissa Woody, vice president of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce Visitors and Convention Bureau. More than 2,000 people attended.

The show is now in a 70,000 square-foot covered arena and grew to a multi-day event in 2007, she said.
