Chattanooga: Soldiers return to cheering family, friends

Members of the 591st Transportation Detachment Division for the U.S. Army Reserves returned to Chattanooga today after spending a year in Iraq.

Eighteen soldiers arrived at their headquarters on Hickory Valley Road this afternoon to family and friends, red white and blue “Welcome Home” signs and 1,000 yellow balloons released when their bus pulled up.

“I feel a lot of emotion,” said staff Sgt. Edward Burdyl. “I’m happy, grateful and excited. I plan to sit on the couch, watch TV and watch commercials.”
