Offices closing today for holiday

Chattanooga and Hamilton County government offices will be closed today in observance of Saturday's July Fourth holiday.

City and county offices will reopen Monday.

However, there will be garbage pickup today, city officials said.

There will be mail delivery today, but most U.S. Postal Services offices will close at noon. There will be no regular mail delivery Saturday, postal officials said.

Regular mail delivery will resume Monday.

Most Chattanooga banks will be open their regular hours today but will be closed Saturday and resume regular hours Monday.

Tennessee and Georgia state offices also will be closed today.

Georgia Department of Driver Services licensing and testing centers will be closed Saturday. Driver's License Customer Service Centers statewide are closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday, officials said.

East Ridge also will observe the July Fourth holiday today. All city offices will be closed. Trash services will be suspended for Friday pickup. Services will resume Monday. The Tuesday-Friday trash services customers will resume pickup on their next normally scheduled day, Tuesday. For questions, please contact East Ridge City Hall at 867-7711.

There will be no CARTA fixed-route bus service Saturday. The downtown shuttle buses will operate on the Saturday schedule. CARTA's Care-A-Van service will operate on a holiday schedule.

CARTA services will resume the regular Sunday schedule Sunday.
