Signal Mountain Middle/High School teacher Wes Greene is scheduled to appear in court on Monday to answer charges of selling prescription drugs fraudulently obtained by his fiancee Jacqueline Newman, who worked at Walgreens as a pharmacy technician, according to court records.

The two were indicted by the Hamilton County grand jury on June 17 and were booked at the Hamilton County Jail on June 18.

Mr. Greene and Ms. Newman were married last Saturday and are reportedly on their honeymoon in Mexico.

The indictment states Ms. Newman was filling fraudulent prescriptions for hydrocodone and Xanax and that Mr. Greene was re-selling the drugs on the street for cash.

The indictment states the couple shared in the proceeds.

Mr. Greene is charged with theft over $10,000, criminal conspiracy, obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

They are scheduled to appear in Judge Don Poole’s courtroom.

Eddie Gravitte, Signal Mountain principal, said he was unaware of the arrest until he learned of it through the media. Mr. Gravitte said he attended the couple’s wedding last week.

He said he was “extremely disappointed that this is happening.”

Danielle Clark, Hamilton County Schools spokeswoman, said Mr. Greene did not notify the system of his arrest.

“We plan to launch an investigation on Monday,” Ms. Clark said. “Whatever we find will determine what disciplinary action will be taken.”
