Chris Smither live at Riverbend 2002 in Studio ‘99 07/10/09

I’ve been digging through a bunch of old shows recorded at various venues around town. One of my favorites of the lot (and there are many) was a solo-acoustic set by Blues/Folk artist Chris Smither recorded at Riverbend in 2002. This was my first exposure to his music and I’ve been a fan since. I’m particularly drawn to his finger-style guitar playing and his clever use of the English language. I think you’ll enjoy this condensed set.

Some shows:

Driving n’ Crying are performing at Rhythm & Brews tonight. They are essential listening for fans of swinging’ country rock. The show is at 10pm.

Alt. Country of the local variety is at JJ’s Bohemia tonight. Angel Snow, North American Royalty, Butch Ross and Korby Lenker are performing at JJ’s Bohemia at 10p.m.

Verlon Thompson will perform at Barking Legs Theater on Sunday. Verlon is best known as Guy Clark’s hand-chosen and extremely able foil. This should be good. Tickets are $12. The show is at 6:40pm

Have a great weekend.
