Chattanooga: CSAS assistant principals likely interested in top job

CSAS principal Steve Ball expects one of his two assistant principals will take over leadership of the K-12 magnet school when he leaves for Nashville in July, he said today.

“Both of my assistant principals will be interested in the position,” he said. “I think either one of them would do great.”

Metro Nashville’s Superintendent Jesse Register, former Hamilton County superintendent, will announce today that Mr. Ball will be principal at East Literature Magnet, another K-12 school.

Mr. Ball, who came to Hamilton County in 1996 as an assistant principal at Tyner Academy, said his decision had nothing to do with being unhappy at Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences.

“It’s just a new challenge,” he said.

Mr. Ball, whose twin sons will be juniors next year at CSAS, said he will come back to Chattanooga often. He won’t officially leave the school until mid-July, he said.
