To the uninitiated folks who think of Bonnaroo as either a mud-soaked or sun-scorched mob of smelly people, this afternoon’s musical lineup is answer enough to why people attend in droves.
From 3-5 p.m. alone, fans will have to choose between seeing full or partial sets by Galactic, Animal Collective, Grace Potter, Bela Fleck, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Grizzly Bear, King Sunny Ade & and the African Beats, Al Green, TV on the Radio, Lucinda Williams, Ani DiFranco and Amadou & Mariam.
Later tonight performances by the Beastie Boys and David Byrne will overlap and then Phish and Public Enemy will do the same.
Last night, with powerful thunderstorms drenching the grounds, the music played on into the early morning and the fans stuck it out with the bands.
Bonnaroo fans are nothing if not committed.
