BLOG: What the smart people are wearing this year at Bonnaroo

MANCHESTER, Tenn. — Veteran Bonnaroo attendees know three things about the festival: There is no shade, it's going to rain, and the music will be world class.

Therefore, they dress accordingly.

Cargo shorts for the guys, bikinis and a cotton cover or bikini top and a wrap for the girls. For the feat, the smart moves are sandals with straps or rubber boots. You need the straps on your sandals so you can pull your feet out of the inches deep mud when it rains. And brother, it rained last night.

The boots are, of course, funny looking, but representative of the festival spirit. It's not about style points, though the boots do come in a variety of patterns and colors.

People do wear other things to Bonnaroo. I saw one guy dressed in mud and another in a Clifford the Big Red Dog costume.

One girl wore her best red feather boa and another group of ladies appeared ready for their curtain call in a Vegas dinner show.
