James Vandermerwe has been named general manager of Land Rover-Jaguar-Porsche of Chattanooga, a business in East Brainerd owned by the Sam Furrow family in Knoxville.
He previously served with Mercedes-Benz of Knoxville and has almost 20 years of experience in the luxury auto industry. He is a graduate of the East Tennessee State University business college.
Mr. Vandermerwe said he plans to include the certification of every pre-owned vehicle to provide quality at the dealerships here. "I want every client to have complete confidence in our products, service and our relationship with them," he said.

McKeever named to head division
Thomas McKeever has been selected by Jackson & Coker of Alpharetta, Ga., to spearhead its expanded national marketing thrust by introducing what the company said is "a more streamlined approach to physician staffing at prominent hospitals and large health care organizations across the United States."
Mr. McKeever is a 1995 graduate of Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School. He earned a B.S. degree at the DeVry Institute of Technology.

Memorial wins ad recognition
Memorial Health Care System recently was recognized with several national awards for excellence in advertising.
Memorial and Sparq Creative of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., has been honored in two major advertising competitions. Memorial received a bronze award for a weight loss surgery promotion in the 2009 Aster Awards.
Memorial got a Gold Addy for the weight management promotion and two Silver Addys for promotional pieces from the Advertising Federation of the Treasure Coast.

Memorial is a nonprofit, faith-based health care organization. It was founded by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and offers a continuum of care including preventative, primary and acute hospital care, as well as cancer and cardiac care, orthopedic and rehabilitation services.
Cooper named to labor council
Tim Cooper, special representative for the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry, has become the newest member of the TVA Trades and Labor Council. He succeeds retiring representative Ron Albright, who had served for five years.
"We thank Ron Albright for his years of superior service and we wish him well in his retirement," said Steve Stutts, council president. "Tim brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Trades and Labor Council through his service to private sector construction projects and Southern Co.'s fossil plants."
Mr. Cooper has been a UA member for more than 33 years, serving as an officer of UA Local Union 52 in Montgomery, Ala.
The TVA Trades and Labor Council is made up of boilermakers, electrical workers, laborers, machinists, operating engineers and plumbers and pipefitters and represents TVA annual employees in Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Kentucky.
Colquette forms Veritas Financial
Cory S. Colquette has announced his formation of Veritas Financial LLC, an independent, fee-only financial consulting and wealth management firm.
He has bachelor's and MBA degrees from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and is a licensed certified public accountant.
He also has received the personal financial specialist designation through the American Institute of CPAs.
Comcast opens in Fort Oglethorpe
Cable provider Comcast has announced its opening of a Fort Ogle-thorpe office at 1839 Battlefield Parkway in the Bi-Lo Shopping Center.
The hours of the office are Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.
Lett, Thompson join practices
Dr. Jim Lett and Dr. Aaron Thompson have combined their Chattanooga optometry practices.
Their Thompson and Lett Eye Care is now located at 7161 Lee Highway near Shallowford Road, a news release stated. Dr. Lett previously practiced next to LensCrafters in Chattanooga for 23 years. Dr. Thompson is in his ninth year of practice in Chattanooga.
Cornette joins Merrill Lynch as VP
Financial firm Merrill Lynch has announced that Cindy Cornette and her team, which is made up of Cathy Smith, Matt McCoy and Sandra Vastano, have joined the business in its Chattanooga office.
Ms. Cornette was named a first vice president-investments. She and her team bring more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry.
Ms. Cornette had previously been a financial adviser with Ameriprise Financial.
Fowler installed as association official
Don Fowler, practice manger for Nuclear Medicine Associates and Center for Cardiovascular Health, has been installed as vice president-east region of the Tennessee Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Mr. Fowler lives in Ringgold.
Davis, Bradshaw named by Spherion
Spherion Corp., a recruiting, staffing and work force solutions provider, has announced its naming of Paula Davis as branch manager and promotion of April Bradshaw to client service supervisor in its staffing services division.
The Chattanooga office is at 6120 Shallowford Road.
Ms. Davis has been a part of the industry since 1997.
Ms. Bradshaw is a graduate of Radford Unversity in Radford, Va., and has an M.S. degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Ringgold Triumph joins dealer network
Triumph of Ringgold is the newest dealer in the network of nearly 200 dealers of Triumph motorcycles across North America, it has been announced.
Triumph of Ringgold has for 12 years provided custom motorcycles, apparel, parts and accessories, and other lines.
William Lanier is the owner of the business that has now added the Triumph Motorcycles line to its lineup.
