U.S. Rep. John Duncan Jr., R-Tenn., said today that “environmental extremists” and “radicals” stand in the way of more being done to help the nation’s deteriorating transportation infrastructure.

“What’s holding it up is environmental regulations and red tape,” Rep. Duncan said.

Speaking during a workshop by the Tennessee Municipal League at the Chattanooga Convention Center, Rep. Duncan’s discussed how Congress would be able to cope with the nation’s highway and transit system as it deteriorates as well as dealing with any future concerns.
