A man upset with his family allegedly sought revenge by shooting two people and injuring a third in Ringgold, Ga., on Saturday evening.

Authorities arrested Jimmy Davis Goins, 49, and booked him on two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the shooting at 290 Cemetery Road.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Catoosa County Sheriff's Office deputies went to the house and found Clayton Brock suffering from a gunshot wound to his arm and Brenda Lee Ward suffering from one to her side. Ms. Ward lives in the home at 290 Cemetery Road, police said.

Both Ms. Ward and Mr. Brock were treated for minor injuries and released from local hospitals, according to the sheriff's office.

Police found a single 12-gauge shotgun near Ms. Ward's home and arrested Mr. Goins at the home without incident.

Mr. Goins' father, James Goins of 236 Cemetery Road, told police he witnessed the incident and also was injured when he was struck by his son during the altercation, according to the sheriff's office.

"During the investigation, it was determined that the offender was upset over issues within his family and went to his father's residence to seek revenge," said Sheriff Phil Summers in a news release.

After going to his father's home, Jimmy Goins went to Ms. Ward's home, located less than 100 yards away, police said.

Jimmy Goins remains in custody at the Catoosa County Detention Center and no bond has been set, police said.

His father declined comment when contacted at his home Monday morning.

Neighbors who asked not to be identified talking about family matters said the area generally was quiet and rarely experienced disturbances. Many of the Goins' family members live on the gravel road, which is cluttered with rundown cars, rusty auto parts and overgrown weeds, they said.

"I know they're all kin up there," said a woman who lived down the road from where the shooting took place and across the street from Jimmy Goins. "That's all I know."
