GEORGIA COMMITMENTS

LB Demetre Baker 6-0, 200 Orange Park, Fla.

OL Brent Benedict 6-4, 278 Jacksonville

WR Michael Bennett 6-3, 186 Alpharetta, Ga.

LB B.J. Butler 6-3, 240 Kissimmee, Fla.

LB Marc Deas 6-0, 185 Kissimmee, Fla.

DE Jalen Fields 6-5, 250 Dalton, Ga.

OL Kolton Houston 6-5, 270 Buford, Ga.

WR Da'Rick Rogers 6-3, 206 Calhoun, Ga.

Receiver is arguably the biggest need in Georgia's football recruiting efforts for 2010, and the Bulldogs are making headway early.

After snagging Calhoun's Da'Rick Rogers last week, Georgia received a commitment Tuesday morning from Michael Bennett of Alpharetta. The 6-foot-3, 186-pound Bennett is rated by Rivals.com as the No. 68 receiver nationally and received a scholarship offer when he attended camp in Athens last week.

The Bulldogs received a commitment Tuesday afternoon from Demetre Baker, a 6-foot, 200-pound outside linebacker from Orange Park, Fla. Baker also visited Athens last week and became Georgia's eighth commitment.

Rogers is the No. 4 receiver nationally and the No. 22 prospect overall, the highest-rated recruit from the Chattanooga area since Tennessee running back signee Gerald Riggs Jr. (No. 12) in 2002.

Georgia returns two healthy receivers (A.J. Green and Michael Moore) who caught five or more passes last season and have just two more healthy receivers on scholarship (Tavarres King and Israel Troupe). The Bulldogs signed Marlon Brown, Orson Charles and Rantavious Wooten this past winter, with all three expecting to play this season.
