Topic: Transition your child to kindergarten
We transitioned my daughter from preschool to kindergarten about two years ago. I’ve found that what works best is eliminating as much of the “unknown factor” as possible.
Before the end of her preschool year, we visited and observed a kindergarten classroom in action and met her new teacher. We also maintained a daily routine, which included reading books, plus a lunch, nap and potty-break schedule that matched that of her kindergarten class. By the time the first day of school rolled around, my daughter was so excited that she knew what to expect. Of course she still had jitters about making new friends.
