Wamp announces leadership team for governor’s race

DOC: Zach Wamp Statewide Leadership Team

In a news release today, U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp, R-Tenn., announced the names of 250 members of his leadership team in his campaign for governor.

“These early volunteers are vitally important because the next governor of Tennessee is not going to be chosen by big money. The next governor of Tennessee is going to be chosen by the people,” Rep. Wamp said in a statement.

Rep. Wamp has said he expects to be outspent in the GOP primary race by Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam. Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, R-Blountville, and Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons are also running for the Republican nomination.

Among the names released by the Wamp campaign today were:

* John and Lynn Anderson of Chattanooga

* Hamilton County Property Assessor Bill Bennett

* Corky Coker of Chattanooga

* State Rep. Vince Dean, R-East Ridge

* State Rep. Gerald McCormick, R-Chattanooga

* Tom Decosimo of Signal Mountain

* Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond

* Dan Johnson of Hixson

* Hamilton County Trustee Carl Levi

* John “Thunder” and Eileen Thornton of Chattanooga

* Davis and Sherry Lundy of Chattanooga

* State Rep. Eric Watson, R-Cleveland
