A local Wal-Mart employee allegedly shoved by a cop last December has settled his federal lawsuit against the City of Chattanooga and the officer for $20,000.
The city paid $10,000 to Bill Walker, who worked as a greeter at the Collegedale Wal-Mart.
Chattanooga police officer Kenneth Freeman, who is alleged to have shoved Mr. Walker on Christmas Eve when he was asked to show his receipt, paid the rest of the settlement.
A Hamilton County Grand Jury had looked at evidence in the case, but declined not to indict Officer Freeman for the incident. Mr. Walker fell to the ground during the incident, which was caught on tape, and claimed he suffered both physical and mental damage.
Mr. Walker in February sued the city and Officer Freeman in federal court for $21 million.
See tomorrow’s Times Free Press for complete details.
I wonder if there is a condition to keep quiet about this case to keep the money. Freeman is guilty, guilty, and guilty and the city / Hamilton County (which ever comes first) got him off just like they do with others because of "who they work for."

As usual. The whole story never came out in public. Funny how he only picked the black guys to stop after he set the alarm off himself.
Yes Salsa, its a racial issue. The poor, black cop got discriminated. No sir, I'm afraid this is not the first time that this cop has stirred things up. He has some serious ego/power trip issues.
But, you want to make this racial? OK...I would love to see the reaction from the City and courts if this would've been a white cop pushing to the ground an old black man. Settlement would lilely have been in the $100K's.
In reality, this has absolutely nothing to do with race, so stop trying to create a controversy. What it has to do with is Chattanooga PD incompetance and special treatment.
