Waldroup sentencing set May 7

BENTON, Tenn. — Bradley Davis Waldroup Jr. will be sentenced May 7 after being convicted over the weekend of manslaughter and attempted murder, according to an order from Criminal Court Judge Carroll Ross.

Mr. Waldroup was tried for first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in the death of Leslie Bradshaw and injury of his ex-wife, Penny Waldroup.

According to testimony, Ms. Waldroup and her friend, Ms. Bradshaw, brought the couple’s children to visit their father and an argument began over divorce.

Mr. Waldroup testified he committed the crimes but said he didn’t remember much about what happened.

The jury deliberated into Saturday before reaching a verdict. Neither the prosecutor nor the district attorney were available for comment Monday.
