Chad Harris president-elect of state mortgage bankers

Chad Harris of Magna Bank in Chattanooga was recently elected president-elect of the Tennessee Mortgage Bankers Association.

Other officers of the association include Sharon Bosworth of NVR Mortgage in Nashville, president; Rodney Robinson of Regions Financial Corp. in Kingsport, vice president; and Debbie Gadberry of SunTrust Mortgage, Nashville, secretary-treasurer. Scott Ractliffe of Pinnacle Financial Partners, Nashville, is immediate past president of the group.

West Beibers, Lorie Jaynes, Dianne Payne, Dean Puryear, Jim Tew and David Warick are directors of the TMBA.

Josh Wilson named bank VP

Josh Wilson has been promoted by Northwest Georgia Bank to serve as vice president-commercial lender. Mr. Wilson had become assistant vice president-commercial lender late last year.

He had served with Regions Bank for three years before joining Northwest in 2006 as manager of its Hixson branch. He also has previous experience with Wells Fargo Financial.

Mr. Wilson is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He and his wife, Michelle, live in Soddy-Daisy. They have a son, Parker.

Northwest Georgia Bank is based in Ringgold.

Constance Washington honored

Constance Washington, director of councils for the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, was honored on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show in April.

She was named “Thursday Morning Mom,” which is Mr. Joyner’s weekly radio salute to women who make major contributions to their communities.

She and her husband, Wilbert, are the parents of three daughters and one son and have 12 grandchildren. She has been a Girl Scout troop leader for more than a quarter of a century.

The honoree had been nominated for the recognition by her daughter, Kendra Washington Jordan. She also won a $1,000 prize from Tide.

Horne, Westbrook received LEED accreditation

Brian Horne and C. Jeffrey Westbrook, both associated with March Adams & Associates, have received LEED accreditation.

Mr. Horne’s primary responsibilities include structual engineering design and project management for commercial and industrial clients. He is a graduate of Tennessee Technological University.

Mr. Westbrook is March Adams’ lead project engineer for commercial mechanical design. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and has been with the Chattanooga firm for the past seven years. He and his wife, Rhonda, and their two children live in Chattanooga.

March Adams is a consulting engineering firm.

Kim Bryant named CEO of Jackson County health authority

Kim Bryant has become chief executive officer of the Jackson County (Ala.) Health Care Authority, according to Derrell Massey, chairman of the authority’s board of directors.

Mr. Bryant has most recently been interim CEO after serving as chief operating officer of the authority for 10 years.

Mr. Bryant lives in Scottsboro, Ala., with his wife, Robin, and three children.

The Highlands Medical Center of the authority is a 170-bed facility. The hospital authority also owns and operates two long-term care and rehabilitation facilities — Highlands Health and Rehab in Scottsboro and Cumberland Health and Rehab in Bridgeport. It owns Highlands Home Health, Highlands Ambulance and Highlands Occupational Medicine Center.

Lynn Whisman earns professional credential

Lynn Whisman, chief nursing officer of Erlanger Health System, has become a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, which is a professional society of leaders in health care.

“Because health care management ultimately affects the people in our communities, it is critically important to have a standard of excellence promoted by a professional organization,” said Thomas Dolan, president and chief executive officer of the American College of Healthcare Executives. “By becoming an ACHE Fellow and simultaneously earning board certification from ACHE, health care leaders like Ms. Whisman show they are committed to providing high-quality service to their patients and community.”

Ms. Whisman joined Erlanger in 2007 as vice president of patient care services after service with the Memorial Health Care System. She has a degree in nursing from the University of Kentucky and holds an MBA from Middle Tennessee State University. She has also completed the Wharton School of Business Fellowship in nurses executive management at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Tiffany Hobbs named executive director

Tiffany Hobbs, a registered nurse, has become executive director of The Lantern Alzheimer’s Center at Morning Pointe in Collegedale

She previously served as resident services director of The Lantern Alzheimer’s Center, which is a secure, state-of-the-art, 32-unit facility at 9300 Messinger Lane.

Ms. Hobbs has five years of adult and senior health care and earned her degree in nursing at he University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is pursuing a Master’s degree in advanced practice nursing at Southern Adventist University.

She and her husband, Steven, and their son, Gaven, live in East Brainerd.

The Collegedale facility is part of Independent Healthcare Properties, LLC, which was founded in 1996 by Greg A. Vital and Franklin Farrow. IHP develops and manages senior health care communities and commercial real estate.

Lemon Drop Salon celebrates

The Lemon Drop Salon last month celebrated its relocation to 7047 Lee Highway.

April Q. Jordan bought the six-year-old business last year.

“We strive to give our customers quality hair, nail and massage services, while maintaining a friendly, family atmosphere,” she said.

The salon has eight stylists, a nail technician and a massage therapist.

Dental clinic renamed

The dental clinic at the Hope for the Inner City was renamed the Dr. Bill Roy Mercy Dental Clinic, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Area Dental Society.

Dr. Roy, along with Dr. Martin Long, began the clinic in 1985 after participating in three mission trips with Dr. Mitch Mutter for his Children’s Nutritional Program in Haiti.

Dr. Roy’s idea of helping closer to home led to the current clinic located at the headquarters of the Hope for the Inner City.

Its executive director, Paul Green, said “We are humbled by the opportunity of carrying on the legacy of Dr. Roy through the ministry of Hope for the Inner City. His gentle manner and empowering spirit insured that everyone who visited the Mercy Clinic was not only relieved of their physical pain but also inspired by his engaging demeanor. We are pleased to rename this clinic in his honor insuring that ‘Changed Lives and Transformed Communities for the Cause of Christ’ always remains our mission.”

Dr. Larry Welch, current CADS president, said, “Naming the clinic for Dr. Roy is a way to pay tribute to the work that he did to provide care in this community for those who need it most.

“Dr. Roy believed in transforming lives one smile at a time, and those of us in the profession are honored to carry on that tradition.”

Jimmy Scotchie gets company award

Jimmy Scotchie, senior financial adviser and certified financial planner with Scotchie & Associates, has become an Ameriprise Platinum Financial Services adviser, according to a news release. The recognition is based on the success of his financial services practice in 2008.

Mr. Scotchie has his office at 6111 Shallowford Road. Only 15 percent of more than 10,000 Ameriprise financial advisers get the honor.

Guy Crosson named to health group’s board

Guy Crosson, executive director at Life Care Center of Red Bank, was become a member of the board of directors of the American College of Health Care Administrators.

“It’s an honor to be elected to the only professional board for licensed nursing home administrators in the country,” Mr. Crosson said. “I’m involved in ACHCA because I feel it is important to give back to the profession, to be part of maintaining the ethical standards and helping others in the field become more knowledgeable.”

Life Care Center of Red Bank is at 1020 Runyan Drive and is one of 24 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Tennessee managed by Life Care Centers of America, based in Cleveland, Tenn.

David R. Gardenhire named general manager

David R. Gardenhire has been named general manager of Home Instead Senior Care.

He joins the family business of non-medical care after having owned a FedEx ground route for 10 years.

Home Instead Senior Care has locations at 7625 Hamilton Park Drive in Chattanooga and at 207 W. King St. in Dalton, Ga.
