Chattanooga: Accident shuts down Interstate 75 northbound near Ooltewah

Interstate 75 northbound just before the Ooltewah exit is shut down tonight while Chattanooga police clean up a wreck that occurred around 7 p.m. at mile marker 10.3, police said.

According to officers on the scene, traffic slowed to a crawl just before the exit when a tractor-trailer carrying frozen pizzas rear-ended a car, the driver over-corrected and pushed another vehicle into the wall before turning over on its side.

Three people were taken to a hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Officers said Interstate 75 northbound may be shut down until late at night.

The suggested alternate route is Exit 7/Collegedale to Old Lee Highway, then take Little Debbie Parkway to Ooltewah and re-enter Interstate 75 heading north.
