The head of the Dal-Tile ceramic and stone products business that Mohawk Industries acquired in 2005 has been promoted to president of the parent company.

Mohawk announced Thursday that W. Christopher Wellborn will be president and chief operating officer for Mohawk. Mr. Wellborn has served as COO for Mohawk since 2005 and has been on the company's board since 2002.

"Chris has been an excellent partner in his role as chief operating officer as we transition from a carpet manufacturer to a total flooring business including carpet, rugs, ceramic, laminate, stone, wood and vinyl products," Mohawk CEO Jeffrey S. Lorberbaum said.
