Chattanooga police are investigating a shooting that occurred today around 12:30 p.m. at 3301 Pinewood Drive, officers said.
The incident was a possible home-invasion gone bad, said police department spokeswoman Officer Rebecca Royval.
Derrick Houston, 30, was shot in the hand when he fought with an intruder trying to rob him in his house, Officer Royval said.
After the black male fled the scene, Mr. Houston drove himself to the hospital. He was treated for a gunshot wound and released, she said.
The incident is still under investigation.
