Vols win 56-28

Staff Photo by Tim Barber Nu'Keese Richardson gathers in a touchdown pass over loose coverage from Memphis' Lavaris Edwards (19) in first half action in Knoxville.

After one quarter of play, the Tennessee Vols had scored two touchdowns against the Memphis Tigers.

The first touchdown was a rush by Bryce Brown and the second was a pass by Jonathan Crompton to Gerald Jones.

Both extra points were kicked by Daniel Lincoln.

The Vols continued their domination in the second quarter with three Crompton touchdown passes and three more Lincoln extra points. This was answered by a Memphis touchdown rush by Marcus Hightower and an extra point by Matt Reagan, but that couldn't stop the Vols' momentum. Late in the second quarter, Crompton ran for yet another touchdown, which along with another extra point from Lincoln, raised the score to 42-7.

In the fourth quarter, Memphis' Will Hudgens was the last to score, but it wasn't enough to conquer the Vols. The final score was 56-28.
