Think of Sunday as a placeholder in the schedule of weekly events at Chattanooga Market.

In the future, said owner Chris Thomas, what is billed as the Celebrate Chattanooga Festival will showcase the city's many national and international businesses.

"There is a lot of pride in that," he said. "We want to celebrate entrepreneurship."

Nevertheless, the free open-air market at First Tennessee Pavilion will have its usual complement of locally grown produce such as pumpkins and apples, handmade arts and crafts, prepared foods and live music.

The live music will include Letty & Georgia (11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.), Mountain Music Folk School (1-2 p.m.) and Baaddmojo (2:30-3:30 p.m.).

When the Celebrate Chattanooga Festival becomes all he wants it to be, Thomas said, "we want it to be like a hometown party."
