Invasion of United States!

What would be your reaction if a foreign army invaded the United States?

Such a proposition is so unlikely that we can hardly imagine it. The United States has been in terrible wars, but has not faced serious military invasion since the War of 1812, when British troops burned the White House.

If a foreign army attempted to invade the United States today, we surely would mobilize all of our military forces -- and all of our citizens -- to repel the invaders and defend our country and our people from the invaders.

Yet the United States is being invaded today -- and has been for some years -- by so many illegal foreign invaders that we don't even know how many are here!

Does that seem incredible to you?

By some estimates, the number of illegal aliens in the United States is as high as 20 million!

And yet we have not determined to make our borders impervious to invaders.

Arizona is "in the news" because it is facing such a massive number of illegal invaders that it has adopted a tough state law in its defense.

But why doesn't the federal government of the United States have effective defense against the illegal invasion?

Some officials are even condemning Arizona for its efforts to defend its borders, its people and its laws.

We can understand why many foreigners want to come here. They see the United States as a land of golden opportunity that they would like to enjoy. We have laws that provide for limited numbers of people to come here from foreign countries, temporarily or permanently. Some of them benefit our country and our people. But in addition, there are millions of people who have violated our laws to come here and created serious problems.

The illegal invasion has been winked at in some cases because it is a source of cheap labor. Most of the illegals are seeking work and a better life, for which we don't blame them. But some of the illegal invaders are violent criminals and drug smugglers who create great dangers.

How many illegal invaders will we tolerate? How many can we accept without a major change in the way our 300 million American citizens and legal immigrants live?

With humanitarian compassion, we may understand the aspirations of millions of people who have come here illegally. But it should be evident to all Americans that we cannot maintain our laws, our security, our economy and our historic traditions if we ignore the invasion of our country by many millions of people who violate our laws.

What other country allows unlimited illegal immigration?

We should defend the United States and our people by upholding our laws. We are failing to do that today.

We are almost certainly headed for some type of sophisticated National ID Card that will be linked to a national data base and very difficult to subvert. This may border on an invasion of privacy, but only through an employment filtering system will we get a handle on who among us is in the US legally.

Such a system, with hard time and huge fines for employer violators, would stop most illegal immigration in its tracks.

Step back a moment and look at the bigger picture.

An army of illegal workers crossing our border to build our homes, harvest our crops, work in our factories, cut our grass...taking any and every availabe job and we are describing this as a national crises?

If we deported 20-30 million workers, then we would have a true crisis.

We need to get our hate gene under control and find fair solutions for those who are already in the US.

Im A white man Born in Tennessee,But i think the Arizona law was put together by racist people like Jan brewer...etc..This Law will destroy Arizona's economy. Theres about 600,000-800,000 illegal aliens in Arizona..If you deport this many people back to Mexico...Whos gonna pay for the housing food and processing paperwork to deport each person that would take weeks or months. Arizona Does!!!! These are families trying to survive and take care of their families like me and you. And I hope the FEDS dont bail out Arizona when they go bankrupt!!!! Jan Brewer is an idiot for signing it into law...There will also be hundreds of lawsuits filed against this law..I hope Arizona has Legal funds put back to fight these lawsuits.. Hola Amigos;-) Peace!!

SM,

Our immigration system is broken and those that are here are water over the dam. We have to develope a new set of enforceable immigration guidelines and vigorously follow them.

give me some percentages, or some sort of factual basis, otherwise this is an obvious straw-man attack.

No question the system is broken. Does that mean we ignore the current laws? There is no country on earth, including Mexico itself, that allows unfettered entrance into their sovereign territory. How open do you want the border to be?

What we're hearing now is the same story we heard the last time there was a mass amnesty that was supposed to be a one time deal while the "broken system" was fixed.

I agree that you can't kick them all out, but you can't shrug your shoulders and continuously fail to address the problem. The real error in illegal immigration is the looming threat of terrorists entering the US. Laws and programs need to be properly put into place to secure the border first. Only after can you proper address illegal aliens who currently live in the US. Some sort of modified Green Card program.

Boob, Boob, Boob dear, I'd like to help you by showing you your own words above and telling you that this is exactly why Arizona and other border states are saying they need to get rid of the illegals, especially the criminals in their state. This is why border states are full of crime and now broke. They will SAVE money by getting rid of the leeches on society.

You guys who sit in your ivory towers telling Arizona how to live, make laws and deal with their problems, need to be thrown in the desert with the illegal cartels coming across, or better yet, thrown in a Mexican jail to see just how you would be treated in their country. Illegals have been treated like kings in comparison here.

Now go tell the 63% of blacks and 54% of Hispanics THEY'RE "racist" for agreeing with Arizona's stance. When it's your state and your butt in the sling, then we'll see how 'compassionate' the hypocrites are. Big talk, no walk...
