Walker County: Domestic fight leads to shotgun shooting

A domestic argument led to a shooting with a shotgun this morning in Rock Spring, Ga.

It all started with an altercation at 1340 Clyde Byrd Road, where a 51-year-old male and a woman were fighting with Eric Brandon Carden, 18, according to a news release from the Walker County Sheriff's Office.

The older male drove away from the residence with a friend, and Carden fired the shotgun three times into the vehicle, the release states.

Carden followed them to the Mapco Mart at U.S. Highway 27 and Georgia Highway 95 where he fired two more blasts, striking the victim in the lower calf of his right leg, according to the release.

The victim, who was only identified as a Rock Springs resident, was transported to Erlanger hospital, Sheriff Steve Wilson said in the release.

A short time later, sheriff's deputies apprehended Carden in a traffic stop on Highway 95 near the Wood Station community, Wilson said.

The release says Carden is in the Walker County Jail where he is awaiting charges.
