Brenda Short, a former staffer for U.S. Rep. Marilyn Lloyd, D-Tenn., said Monday evening she's running for the 3rd District seat Rep. Lloyd once held.
Ms. Short said she plans to file her paperwork this week to become the only Democrat officially in the race.
A crowded field of Republicans and two independents are also seeking the seat.
