A multimillion-dollar bowling and entertainment center is to open in East Brainerd by the end of the year, according to one of the project's investors.
The center, called Pin Strikes, will hold 24 bowling lanes, a two-story laser tag site, bumper cars and pool tables, said Bhavesh Patel, an investor in a Georgia-based partnership behind the venture.
Also, the 39,000-square-foot center will hold a full-service restaurant and bar along with a video arcade and meeting and party rooms, he said.
Pin Strikes is slated to go into part of the former Home Depot store at Perimeter Place Shopping Center at Lee Highway and state Highway 153, Mr. Patel said.
Jeff Jennings of NAI Charter Real Estate Corp., who represented the tenant, said Pin Strikes will be "unlike anything Chattanooga has in the current marketplace."
"The Pin Strikes concept has been a tremendous success in the Atlanta market," Mr. Jennings said.
Mr. Patel said the Chattanooga facility is patterned after one in Stockbridge, Ga., just southeast of Atlanta.
CENTER JOBSThe Pin Strikes bowling and entertainment center is expected to employ about 65 people, an official said.
"Chattanooga is a good place to have a good family atmosphere product," he said. Plans are to have the center open by Thanksgiving, said Mr. Patel, who declined to be specific about the project's price tag.
He said the center, to be overseen by partners Bill Patel and Bob Patel, is expected to employ about 65 people.
Mr. Jennings said Perimeter Place, which has 157,744 square feet, is now 97 percent occupied with the Pin Strikes addition.
Pin Strikes will go next to the Sportsman's Warehouse, an outdoor retailer that moved into the shopping center about five years ago after Home Depot vacated the site to move to Gunbarrel Road.
