News release: Gobble campaign on Smith poll results: “We warned you.”

Press Release

Jeff Lewis, campaign manager for Third District Congressional Candidate Tim Gobble, on Monday evening said, “The fact that Robin Smith released the results of the push poll conducted on her behalf that we warned voters about last week through a press release on Thursday, July 15 is a real shame. We had repeated phone calls from concerned voters who were told to answer only if they preferred Robin Smith or Chuck Fleischmann, asked specifically about favorability, which Smith indicates was a main question in the poll she has “won,” and blatantly asked to disregard the presence of Tim Gobble in this race.

“Robin Smith is trying every trick in her old political party boss handbook to take control over public perception of this race. While we do not wish to engage in an argument over polling data in the same way Smith and Fleischmann have fought over endorsements, we do strongly object to the release of polling data while the early voting polls are open in a desperate attempt to manipulate votes at the eleventh hour.“

Looks like Gobble is the only one with sense!

I am having a hard time figuring a way for Robin to have garnered 22% more votes than her nearest competitor(Chuck) in a race with so many candidates running. The only way it could conceivably work would be for her to garner 40% of the total vote which would mean Chuck would have gotten 18%(22% less than Robin). That would leave 42% for the remaining 6 or 8 candidates including Gobble, Rhodes, Crangle, and Irion who seem to have solid support. I just have a hard time seeing how one candidate will pull as much as 40% of the vote in a race with so many candidates. Let's assume Robin got 35% which would mean 13% for Chuck. That leaves 52% for the others and none receiving more than 12%. Again, might be plausible but highly doubtful. It gets even murkier assuming Robin won 30%. Unless, of course, there is some truth to the "push poll" accusation and the question being posed in such a way that only two candidates were considered.

There is definitely truth to it. I received one of these calls myself. Lady asked me what I thought about smith, fleischmann, and gobble (favorable, unfavorable, no opinion). I answered unfavorable for chuck and robin, then favorable for gobble. Then she asked who I was voting for (Gobble). she went to the governors race, then came back to the congressional race. She asked me to take tim out of the running, and pick either robin or chuck. I told her no, because I was voting for gobble, so it didn't matter. She asked what I thought about trial lawyers. I told her that was irrelevant. She asked me if gobble wasn't running, and I found out robin was fighting against corrupt trial lawyers, would I vote for robin? I couldn't believe my ears. I again said it didn't matter, because I am voting for gobble. This lady was trying her BEST to get me to say I would vote for Robin. This is honest to goodness what happened. Such a shame. I think it speaks volumes as to what kind if candidate robin is, and honestly, fleischmann as well. I'm so sick of all of this stupid political shadiness. PLEASE, CHATTANOOGA, PUT GOBBLE IN OFFICE. That way we don't have to put up with this kind of nonsense.

I'm happy to see that Art Rhodes has been the only serious contender to not get involved in the mudslinging.

"The trial lawyer" nags at Robin all day on twitter, then "the sheriff" sends back up by nagging at her at debates/forums.

While most of the things said about these three are true, none of them can pretend to be taking the high road over one another.
This type of bickering is so unattractive, yet Gobble and Fleiwhatever have a good point about this poll if what @chadsherk says is true.

In my view Robin is, in fact, a big party boss playing party politics; She's the frontrunner because she has the most connections.

Chuck is out of touch with just about every voter in the district but has the money to nab big republican names for his team.

Gobble seems like a good guy..... if only that qualified you for being a congressman! Hope he can overcome the allegations of endorsing democrats and suing the county contrary to campaign promises.

I wouldn't lump gobble in with chuck and robin at all. He seems to only defend himself, not sling mud. Can't blame him for that.

I assure you, my previous post is absolutely true. Heard it with my own ears.

Also, the rumors you conveniently posted about gobble are simply untrue. Plain and simple.

I got one of those calls and wonder if hanging up didn't count as a vote for Robin. As for Chuck, based on his ads, he loves his father, didn't get any federal aid when his mother died (who does?), runs a small business (he's a lawyer) and wants to stop spending as the simple answer to the debt (all spending?). Not much from Chattanooga to vote for.

I don't mean to say that Gobble has done the same type of mudslinging as Robin and Chuck, but he has, however, done his fair share.

The fact that there are allegations out there about Gobble's record is true. Now whether the allegations are true or not, is still to be seen.

I'm not accusing him of either. All I'm saying is that I know for a fact that there people in the area that are not happy with what they perceive as to be: him endorsing a democrat and going against campaign promises.

He did sue Bradley county did he not?

Right Wing . . I think you are confusing the fact that he supports his deputies in their jobs over an endorsement. He made a statement supporting Lawson over the management of drug money, but was not endorseing him. If you heard what he said where his reasons for suing the county it was again for the safety and protection of his deputies. Why don't you go to his website and e-mail the Sheriff and ask him. When you hear the facts on this you will probably vote for him! The Sheriff does not care about endorsements like Robin Pelosi Smith does, so don't look for him to hand one out!

I would like to correct the above comment:"Gobble seems like a good guy..... if only that qualified you for being a congressman!" I would like to ask rightwingnutjob and the voters of the 3rd district, which of the candidates running actually have the RIGHT experience? Does Smith? NO! Does Chuck? He's a lawyer, thus NO! I encourage all voters to go to Tim Gobble's website and look at the experience he has on a national level: Tim's has 15 years of National Security experience protecting three presidents as a Secret Service agent. That alone qualifies him over the other candidates and when elected, will get him on the National Security Committee in Congress. Secondly, Sheriff Gobble served on Cleveland's city counsel with a voting record favorable to business development and cutting taxes for the citizens of Cleveland and helped stop storm water fees in Cleveland, something I wish we didn't have in Chattanooga. Another advantage over the others! And thirdly, Tim Gobble has been and is a great Sheriff for Bradley Co. No one else in the race has nowhere near the experience of being a great public servant as does Tim Gobble. Plus, he is a great person and will represent the 3rd district well with integrity and honesty. VOTE for the RIGHT experience on Aught 5th-Vote for the REAL thing! VOTE for Sheriff Tim Gobble for Congress!!!

@gm1220 you may exactly and totally correct. ALL I said was that there is the existence of those allegations, not that they are necessarily true.

@commonsense2010 Hey, man, you don't have to convince me! Robin has the connections and Chuck has the money, and I won't be voting for either of them.

I'd love to have a man from Bradley County as our next congressman. That man would be Art Rhodes!

He has already worked in congress on numerous committees. He's lived there and knows what to do and what not to do. He led a orientation class(for Zach Wamp) for goodness sakes, he KNOWS how to get things done there, and he could do it on day one.

Now, he manages, and has grown, over $260 mil in retirement funds. He is very responsible and is trusted to maintain budgets and make wise choices for over 2,500 people.

His experience and depth of knowledge far surpasses that of Gobble, and any other candidate for that matter. Just attend a forum and that will be CLEARLY seen. It would be fun to have a B.C. debate with Rhodes and Gobble. Well.. it wouldn't be fun for Gobble.

Rightwing. . .you are clearly a Rhodes fan and all this is you clearly wanting to endorse him. OK fine. . endorse him. But, you threw in there about Gobble endorsing a democrat, not ture. Art was a democrat and I haven't seen any press releases stating where he changed! But, that is what makes our country great.

Gobble learned politics from listening outside the Oval Office! He knows more than Art ever will. But, I want to encourage you not to waste your vote. Art is not popular enough to get elected. Those people in high places knows that the Smith campaign planted him to take away Gobble votes. I have attended several forums and I don't think your Art is the one! Robin Pelosi Smith is desparate! The exit polls shows it Gobble!

@rightwingnutjob you are dead wrong about Rhodes' experience over Gobble's- he hasn't been elected for a public office-ever! Tim's experience far outweighs any of the candidates, especially Rhodes! VOTE EXPERIENCE-VOTE GOBBLE!!!

@ gm1220 A vote is NEVER wasted. It's thinking like that of your own that represses people from actually voting for, and getting, their true preference. By the way, I think you'll be very surprised by the amount of votes Mr. Rhodes receives.

Secondly, and for the last time, I am not saying that he endorsed a democrat! Once again, I am simply saying that: there are allegations out there. NOT: that they are true. I hope I've made this difference clearer.

Thirdly, its laughable, literally laughable to think that because Tim was a federal agent investigating counterfeiting and fraudulent crimes and spent time in the white house complex, that he now, somehow, magically has learned all there is to know about being a congressman.

Yes, I will admit, him having been a secret service agent is impressive and unique, but don't fool yourself into thinking that he now holds the secrets to all of washington.

"he learned his politics from listening outside the oval office" well, Art "learned his politics from sitting in the VERY committee rooms and offices that he is running to occupy" Using your logic, Tim would know how to be president. Art would know how to be a congressman. What office are they running for again?

@commonsense2010 I prepared to respond to your comment, but realized it was probably a waste of time if you seriously would suggest that:

"Tim's experience far outweighs any of the candidates, ESPECIALLY Rhodes!"

Especially? Are you serious? I'm sorry, but you are literally delusional.

@rightwing- Sir, I am not going to lower myself to your level of slander by calling someone delusional. But the fact is Mr. Rhodes doesn't have a chance in this election. If you want to waste your vote that's your business.

Rightwing. . .if you keep talking smack about Gobble you might be endanger of losing your salvation! You make me laugh. If Art is this wonderful why does he not run for mayor and do some good for the people, because he is working for the Stanberry's! Wake up nut job!

July 23, 2010 at 5:26 p.m.
rightwingnutjob said...

@gm1220 the reason why Art isn't running for mayor is because the mayor doesn't need replaced. Why doesn't the sheriff run for mayor?

Whether we agree or disagree on who our preference is, a vote is not wasted so long as the person being voted for is the person you want. The only votes that are wasted are the ones that are cast for someone simply because you think they have a better chance of winning.

Rightwing The reason the Sheriff is not running for mayor is because he is running for Congress! He has been in the city council and has been sheriff. This is called experience! Art does not have experience with the people of Bradley or 3rd district there he does not have a name that people have learned to trust. I suggest that Art run for city council so we can all benefit from his wise leadership! Until then Vote Gobble and help send someone to Washington that has proven to you already that he will protect all your interest! You know . . at night while you are sleeping safely in your home someone has been watching over you and it's not been your boy Art!

Vote Gobble!
