Time2Save: Double coupons

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Q: If a coupon says "Do Not Double," will a store still double it?

A: Stores only double up to certain amounts. If the coupon is within that amount (say it's a 40-cent coupon, and the store doubles up to 50 cents), then it depends on the bar code. If the bar code starts with the number 5, then the register is programmed to double the coupon automatically. However, the store and manager reserve the right to suppress the double if it says "Do Not Double." This usually occurs when the store's marketing budget is near its limit.
