Re-elect Pam Hurst

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

Pam Hurst, Hamilton County register of deeds, has served faithfully and effectively since taking office in 1994. She now seeks re-election and is challenged by Jeff Brown, the local Democratic Party chairman, in the Aug. 5 county general election.

Ms. Hurst was a real estate title examiner for 10 years prior to becoming register of deeds. The register records deeds and other legal documents.

Since taking office, Ms. Hurst has extended its hours. Electronic filing of documents began in 2006, and Ms. Hurst is working to modernize the title search process.

The East Tennessee Registers Association named her register of the year in 2002. Her civic activities include work with United Way and with the East Hamilton County Ruritan Club.

We know of no reason why Ms. Hurst should not continue in her position as register of deeds, and we endorse her without hesitation.
