Ex-Lady Vol arrested, 2nd time in 3 weeks

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Former Tennessee Lady Vol Brittany Jackson has been arrested on drunken driving and related charges, her second arrest in three weeks.

Police in Cleveland said a vehicle driven by the 26-year-old Jackson hit another vehicle from the rear last Tuesday and she then left the scene on foot.

According to the Cleveland Daily Banner, she is scheduled for a hearing in General Sessions Court July 20 on charges of drunken driving and attempting to leave the scene of an accident.

On May 19, she and her sister were charged with assaulting a woman on the Tennessee Wesleyan College campus in Athens in what police called a domestic incident. Jim Logan, her attorney, said Monday her trial on that charge is July 1 in Athens. He described the incident as a scuffle involving her sister's ex-boyfriend and a woman with him at the time.

Jackson played for the Lady Vols from 2001 to 2005. In a statement released through Logan, she said she has used "poor and inappropriate judgment" recently. Jackson also has done occasional broadcast work for ESPN and motivational speaking.

"She is trying to refocus her life," Logan said Monday.
