Q: Can't I get the store generic brand cheaper than using coupons?

A: That was where we started. We bought generic for just about everything. We knew that there was a slight difference in taste or quality, but not enough to make us pay a higher price for the name brand. It took awhile to get used to actually getting name brand items cheaper when we started using coupons. In most cases, you can get the name brand for significantly less than the generic brand. While generics can be 10 percent to 20 percent cheaper, learning to effectively shop with coupons will save you 50 percent to 60 percent off the original price.
