Dooley visits area to meet Vols fans

University of Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley is scheduled to come to Chattanooga today.

The headliner of the city's annual stop in the Big Orange Caravan, Dooley will join men's basketball assistant Tony Jones and Lady Vols basketball assistant Holly Warlick at the Chattanoogan for dinner. The trio will be at the Cleveland Country Club for lunch.

Dooley, the Vols first-year coach who took over the program in January after the unexpected departure of Lane Kiffin, is fresh off his initial spring practice in Knoxville.

The Vols have several holes to fill after having six players from last season's 7-6 team drafted and three other projected returning starters -- quarterback Nick Stephens, running back Bryce Brown and offensive tackle Aaron Douglas -- leave the team this spring.

Tickets are still available for today's event at the Chattanoogan, which includes a buffet dinner around 6 p.m. and an auction to benefit the UT Alumni Association-Hamilton County chapter's scholarship fund. Go to www.hamiltoncountycaravan.eventbrite.com for ticket information. Walk-up tickets will be available if space allows.
