Mudcats beat Lookouts 11-6

ZEBULON, N.C. -- Carolina scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a tie and beat the Chattanooga Lookouts 11-6 on Saturday.

The Mudcats got four of those eighth-inning runs when left fielder Corey Smith committed a fielding error and a throwing error with the bases loaded. The Mudcats scored their first two runs in the eighth on a bases-loaded walk by Chattanooga relief pitcher Harvey Garcia and a wild pitch.

The Lookouts (13-16) scored three in the top of the eighth to produce the 5-5 deadlock, getting RBI doubles from Smith and Jaime Pedroza.

The finale of the five-game series at Carolina is today at 2. Jesus Castillo (2-1, 1.48 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with Travis Webb (0-1, 6.75) scheduled for the Mudcats.

Before Saturday's game, catcher Mike Rivera returned to the Lookouts from the temporary inactive list.
