On one of his first trips to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, UT system President Joe DiPietro praised the university for its fundraising and efforts to garner national distinction.

Speaking to community leaders and articulating his vision for the Chattanooga university, DiPietro said UTC deserves praise for its efforts to be ranked as one of the Top 5 master's universities in the country by 2021.

He also spoke of his overall vision for the multicampus university system.

"When we look at this UT system, it's really defined as a system that helps all components," DiPietro said.

Hired in October, DiPietro also met with legislators while in Chattanooga today.

Prior to the president's job, he was the chancellor of the UT Institute of Agriculture.
