Volkswagen completes 23-mile rail system at new site in Chattanooga

Volkswagen and Chattanooga officials today marked the completion of a 23-mile rail system that will move 80 percent of the cars built at the automaker’s local factory to dealers across North America.

“This is another important milestone for Volkswagen’s return to production in North America,” said Frank Fischer, who heads Volkswagen’s Chattanooga operations.

Over $6 million dollars was spent to create what is likely the biggest rail overhaul in and around the former Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant complex, at least since the Vietnam War and potentially World War 2, officials said.

Volkswagen is slated to launch production of its new Passat later this month.

Congratulations for the Volkswagen company. No doubt that they really have great sales since they perform well and its VW parts and other accessories are good too. Hoping for good models for upcoming years.
