A man driving a Honda Civic with a meth lab in the trunk fled authorities in neighboring Georgia and was arrested after he wrecked in Chattanooga, police said.

Police spokeswoman Rebecca Royval said George Debord Jr., 36, of Chattanooga, was trying to escape Walker County lawmen but crashed his car in the 2500 block of McCallie Avenue.

Chattanooga police and Walker County officers chased Debord on foot and one officer used a Taser on him, Royval said.

Narcotics officers found methamphetamine in its final liquid stage before it becomes powder, she said. The car is believed to have been stolen in East Ridge, she said.

Debord was arrested on charges of possessing drug paraphernalia and possessing meth for resale; manufacturing meth; reckless endangerment, evading arrest, resisting arrest, driving on a revoked license and theft over $1,000.
