The square in Trenton, Ga., was lined almost the entire way around today as several hundred people waved flags, held banners and saluted as Joey Ferguson, a local Marine wounded in Afghanistan, returned home.

Sgt. Ferguson, a native of New Salem, stepped on an improvised explosive device in February, severely injuring his right foot. Since then, he has been recovering at a military hospital in Bethesda, Md. He'll continue receiving therapy while he's home for the next 30 days, before returning to Maryland.

Ferguson currently gets around in a wheelchair, but said his doctors believe therapy on his foot is "looking good." If he does not continue to heal, Ferguson will have to have the foot amputated.
