The Chattanooga Lookouts had one hit through four innings Monday night against Huntsville pitcher Willy Peralta before batting around against him in the fifth.

In Peralta's defense, he had no defense.

Two Stars throwing errors led to six unearned Chattanooga runs in the fifth as the Lookouts erupted for a 10-7 victory before an AT&T Field crowd of 3,562. It was the sixth victory in seven games for the Lookouts, who improved to 7-4.

"When you're facing an ace like that, you've got to be able to take advantage of those situations," Lookouts leadoff hitter Brad Coon said. "Once you get a couple of things to fall your way, you see a little chink in their armor and your confidence gets going. We capitalized when we needed to."

Coon had four hits to lead Chattanooga's 14-hit attack, followed by two apiece by Kyle Russell, Scott Van Slyke and Jaime Pedroza.

Huntsville took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning, but the Lookouts pulled within 2-1 without hitting a ball to the outfield. Russell led off with an infield hit, which was followed by Van Slyke reaching on a throwing error, Pedroza on a bunt single that loaded the bases and Jessie Mier on a throwing error to the plate.

Pinch-hitter Pedro Baez then singled past shortstop to score Van Slyke and Pedroza to put the Lookouts ahead to stay.

"I think that's the hardest I've ever run in my life," Russell said of his hit that got things going. "We're scrappy. We just kept chipping away, and things started happening for us."

The only hit by either team through the first three innings occurred in the second, when Huntsville's Brandon Jones singled to right. Jones, who finished 3-for-4, came up in Atlanta's organization and played 51 games with the big-league Braves during the 2007-09 seasons before being designated for assignment in January 2010.

He played last season in Indianapolis, the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Before Monday's game, Lookouts first baseman Corey Smith was promoted to Triple-A Albuquerque. Smith led the Lookouts last season with 86 RBIs and was hitting .313 with three doubles and four RBIs through the first 10 games.
