PLAYER OF THE YEAR

JENNA ADAMS

The McMinn Central post player grew up playing basketball with boys because she didn't feel the girls were at her level. In the state of Tennessee, there still weren't many there this year. A Class AA Miss Basketball finalist, the 6-foot-2 senior averaged 19 points and 10.5 rebounds per game for the Chargerettes, who won the program's first-ever state championship. "This is a great honor for her," McMinn Central coach Johnny Morgan said of the Lee University

signee. "I felt she was the best player in the state, not just the area."

COACH OF THE YEAR

JOHNNY MORGAN

In his 33rd season at McMinn Central, Morgan guided the Chargerettes to a 35-1 record that included the District 5-AA and region championships and their first-ever state title. The group included Best of Preps player of the year Jenna Adams and first-teamer Elizabeth Masengil, and Morgan credited the overall experience at state for the team being so cool under pressure. "When you have players like Jenna and Elizabeth, it's not hard to come up with a game plan to score," he said. "I'm not sure if it was the fact that

they'd been there before, but this group was very relaxed in every game; it's like they felt no pressure and enjoyed playing."
