Bicyclist in critical condition after being struck by SUV on Dodds Avenue

A male bicyclist is in critical condition this morning after being struck last night by an SUV on Dodds Avenue, police said.

Police officials say Timothy Rudolph, 24, was traveling northbound on a bicycle around 10:20 p.m. when Matthew Cunningham, 30, traveling southbound, made a sharp turn to go east on 37th Street and struck Rudolph with his SUV.

Police say Cunningham drove away from the scene of the accident and was located shortly after the incident at 3804 13th Avenue.

Cunningham was arrested and charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, driving on suspended DL, vehicular assault, open container law, improper turn, no insurance, failure to render aid, and failure to report a crash, according to police.

Rudolph sustained life threatening injuries and is in critical condition at Erlanger, according to police report.
