Chattanooga: Steel Warehouse announces expansion

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Steel Warehouse's Chattanooga plant will undergo a multi-million dollar expansion that will bring new jobs to the area, increase the company's customer base and allow it to better meet the demands of the market it currently serves, officials said today.

With the purchase of new equipment, the steel processing company off Amnicola Highway will soon offer custom-cut plates of 1-inch thick steel with improved surface finish not currently available to its customers.

Steel Warehouse will be the only service center in the southeastern and southwestern U.S. with equipment capable of processing material of this thickness which promises to dramatically increase the volume of hot-rolled coil steel shipped through Chattanooga's Centre South Riverport/Industrial Park, an official said.

Dave Lerman, CEO of parent Lerman Enterprises, said the introduction of the technology to the plant will allow it to process and custom-cut up to 1-inch coils of steel.
