Soddy-Daisy police have identified the man struck and killed by a train Tuesday.
They say Steven Underwood, 40, was trying to get a dog from the tracks near Bean Street and Daisy Dallas Road when he was struck and killed instantly.
Witnesses said that as the train approached, Underwood was bent down pleading with the dog to “come here.”
Neighbors said they sometimes saw Underwood walking with the dog near the tracks.
