Longtime Chattanooga banker Frank Schriner Jr., president of the Southeast market for First Tennessee in Chattanooga, will retire this summer.

W. Keith Sanford, who has worked for First Tennessee in the city for more than 30 years, will assume the post, the company announced Wednesday.

"I'm looking forward to it," Sanford said Wednesday.

He said First Tennessee is No. 1 in Hamilton County in terms of deposits and has a strong base from which to move forward.

"We're ready and willing to make loans to support further growth and look at ways to deploy our capital. I can't think of a better market in the state to be in right now," he said.

Schriner will serve as chairman of the bank's Southeast advisory board.

Bryan Jordan, chief executive of parent First Horizon National Corp., said Schriner "has been an outstanding leader for the employees, customers and communities in Southeast Tennessee."

"We look forward to continuing to work with Frank as he leads our advisory board and support Keith as he continues the great work of our team in Chattanooga," Jordan said.

Schriner was hired to work in branch administration after graduating from then-Memphis State University in 1971.

He held leadership positions in retail and correspondent banking before moving to an executive leadership role.

Sanford, 52, joined First Tennessee as a management trainee in 1980 and has held executive positions serving both retail and correspondent banking customers.

He and his wife, Julia Grosvenor Sanford, have four children.
