Tennessee Department of Transportation officials say the U.S. Highway 41 bridge in Marion County has reopened to traffic.

Officials said geotechnical engineers "successfully completed recent testing that required closing the truss bridge to traffic for several days."

The testing was part of the $21.5 million bridge replacement project under way alongside the current bridge, officials said. The new bridge project is expected to be complete by Aug. 31, 2013.
