A woman charged with running over her boyfriend and killing him has a court date set for October.
Alicia Eliza Miguel, 25, is set to appear Oct. 4 in Hamilton County General Sessions Court on charges of vehicular homicide by intoxication, DUI and leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
Miguel appeared Tuesday in the courtroom of Judge Bob Moon, who set the date.
On July 29, Miguel was drinking with Martin Martinez, 27, and began driving along Seventh Avenue at high speed, witnesses told police. She had a confrontation with neighbors then sped off, witnesses said, but she stopped suddenly and backed up, hitting Martinez. She drove off again, hitting Martinez a second time.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Court set Aug. 30 in fatal shooting
A 24-year-old man accused of shooting another man to death during a home robbery will appear in court later this month.
Jerrico Hawthorne is scheduled to be in Hamilton County General Sessions Court on Aug. 30 to face charges of murder in the first degree, attempted murder in the first degree, reckless endangerment, aggravated assault and three counts of especially aggravated robbery.
The victim, 23-year-old James Williams Jr., was shot at least 14 times during a robbery on July 27, according to a Hamilton County medical examiner's report.
Hawthorne's girlfriend, Lequela Lanette Bailey, 25, also is set to appear in General Sessions Court on Aug. 30 on a charge of accessory after the fact because police said she did not turn in Hawthorne. After the shooting, she was found inside a hotel room with him, according to arrest reports.
General Sessions Judge Bob Moon set both dates.
Williams' girlfriend, Yetta Harris, 38, also was shot in the chest and stomach during the robbery, but she is expected to recover, authorities said.
Hearing Sept. 14 in slaying of baby
A woman accused of killing an infant she was baby-sitting in 2008 will appear in a settlement conference in September.
Regina Corbin faces charges of felony murder and aggravated child abuse after 2-month-old Kissaunti Paris Grier died of multiple blunt-force injuries May 30, 2008.
Corbin was supposed to be caring for Grier while the baby's mother was at work. When the mother returned at 9 p.m. she found the baby unresponsive.
Corbin was due in court Tuesday, but a settlement conference has been set for Sept. 14 before Hamilton County Criminal Court Judge Rebecca Stern.
"We'll see if we can get this resolved," said Corbin's appointed counsel, Jay Clements, Tuesday.
