Sixteen area students have been awarded $54,000 in college scholarships from the MaryEllen Locher Foundation.
The foundation is a national college scholarship program for children who have either lost a parent to breast cancer or have a parent who is a breast cancer survivor.
Winners are:
* Breonna Armstrong, Red Bank High School graduate, attending Cleveland State Community College.
*Alex Burd, McCallie School graduate, attending the University of Alabama.
* Trae Cody, Bradley Central High School graduate, attending Lee University.
* Casey Crump, Southeast Whitfield High School graduate, attending Bryan College.
* Taylor Dix, Baylor School graduate, attending King College.
* Gretchen Higdon, Ooltewah High School graduate, attending Lee University.
* Taylor Mullinax, Gordon Lee High School graduate, attending Dalton State College.
* Alex Mullin, Notre Dame High School graduate, attending the University of South Carolina.
* Travis Peacock, Notre Dame High School graduate, attending Tennessee Technological University.
* Paul Peers, Dade County High School graduate, attending the University of the Cumberlands.
* Libby Peigen, Ooltewah High School graduate, attending Lee University.
* Barrett Ratchford, Ooltewah High School graduate, attending Cleveland State Community College.
* Helen Reynolds, homeschool graduate, attending Chattanooga State Community College.
* A.J. Rice, Walker Valley High School graduate, attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
