2 eateries, retailer to open before Christmas at Hamilton Place

Construction workers from P&C Construction set the cement as it pours out of the truck for the foundation of the expansion of The Shoppes at Hamilton Place on Monday afternoon.A Hamilton Place shopping complex is expanding by adding space for three businesses slated to open before Christmas that will create more than 40 jobs, officials said Monday.
The Shoppes of Hamilton Place will add two eateries and a retailer in a 6,000-square-foot site going up on an outparcel near Ross Dress For Less and Marshalls, according to Chattanooga-based developer CBL & Associates Properties Inc.
Coming are Sweet Peppers Deli, Menchie's Frozen Yogurt and Bath Junkie, CBL officials said. A grand opening is scheduled for November.
"The new stores and restaurants will add to the reasons why Hamilton Place continues to be the favored shopping destination for residents of Chattanooga and the surrounding area," said Howard Grody, CBL's senior vice president for leasing.
Amber Roggeman, who owns a Bath Junkie store in Knoxville with her husband, Brent, and is venturing into the Chattanooga market, said a lot of its customers are from the Hamilton County area already.
"We looked at several areas. It seems to be a well-visited place. People from North Georgia shop in that area," she said about Hamilton Place.
Bath Junkie, which specializes in custom bath, home and pet products, has over 30 locations from coast to coast, according to its website. Roggeman, represented in Chattanooga by Jeff Jennings of NAI Charter Real Estate Corp., said her Turkey Creek store in Knoxville will mark its fourth year of operation in October.
The Shoppes at Hamilton Place, adjacent to CBL's Hamilton Place mall, already has 125,000 square feet of space.
Katie Reinsmidt, CBL's vice president of corporate communications, declined to say how much the expansion will cost. She said the businesses will create about 40 jobs along with additional seasonal slots.
