Jeremy Phillips Summer, 28, son of Catoosa County Sheriff Phil Summers, has been arrested at least five times in Tennessee.

The Catoosa County sheriff's son has pleaded guilty to prank-calling 911 last Halloween and reporting a shooter on the loose in downtown Chattanooga.

Jeremy Summers, 28, pleaded guilty in Hamilton County Criminal Court on Tuesday, and Judge Barry Steelman sentenced him to serve three years in jail. The court hearing was for the charges after he called 911 on Oct. 31 saying a shooter was on the loose near Buehler's Market in Chattanooga.

But since this is Summers' first felony conviction, he will be allowed to serve the rest of his sentence on probation, Hamilton County Executive Assistant District Attorney Neal Pinkston said.

Summers already has served about six months on the false report and misuse of 911 services charges, Pinkston said. He said Summers will be allowed to serve his probation in Georgia if he wishes.

Summers, the son of Sheriff Phil Summers, has been arrested at least five times in Tennessee, court records show.

He was taken back to jail on July 29 on a charge of failing to appear in court.

Summers pleaded guilty to a 2004 driving under the influence charge and two years later had three counts of DUI charges dismissed. In 2006, he was charged with burglary of an auto and vandalism, records show. He later pled guilty to vandalism, a misdemeanor charge.
